Basic RiderCourse

The place for new riders to start, and the course that earns your motorcycle endorsement. A training motorcycle is provided, along with a helmet if you need to borrow one.

The Basic RiderCourse (BRC) is where most riders begin. It runs at a pace built for people who have never sat on a motorcycle, and most students finish it in a weekend. Successful completion waives further testing with the Colorado DMV for your motorcycle endorsement.

About this course

The Basic RiderCourse (BRC) is where most riders begin. It runs at a pace built for people who have never sat on a motorcycle, and most students finish it in a weekend. Successful completion waives further testing with the Colorado DMV for your motorcycle endorsement.

What You Need to Know:

  • Online classroom (about five hours, at your own pace)
  • About 11 hours of riding time over two days

The online portion covers the basics before you arrive: how the controls work, how to prepare to ride, and the street strategies you will practice on the range. Bring your completion certificate to the first session; without it you cannot take part and the registration fee is forfeited. Complete it no more than 30 days before your riding days.

On the range, your RiderCoach walks you through straight-line riding, stopping, shifting and turning, then swerving and emergency braking, all on a small training motorcycle we provide.

The course ends with a written knowledge test and a riding skills evaluation. Pass both and you receive a completion card to take to the DMV within 180 days for your endorsement.

Students under 18 must bring a parent or guardian to sign the liability waiver.
